Badwater Basin, the lowest, hottest place in North America
Badwater Basin is the lowest part of Death Valley, 282 feet below sea level. While it’s indisputably the lowest spot in North America, the temperatures for Death Valley are recorded 17.5 miles north and 92 feet higher at the Furnace Creek Visitor’s Center. Badwater is probably be a bit hotter.
