Salt Creek

Salt Creek

Salt Creek drains the north end of Death Valley, although upstream it is called Death Valley Wash. Salt Creek is the section where the geologic structures brings spring water to the surface in a canyon before the creek drains into Cotton Ball Marsh in the northern end of the valley floor. We’ve visited Salt Creek several times from the south entry to the canyon and hiked in once to McLean Spring at the north end. We got to the see the devastation caused by the floods of 2022 and 2023. Here are photos that compare the creek before and after.
